  1. How wonderful to hear a fresh voice. Perhaps, even, a new Leonard Cohen bridging the worlds of poetry and song so sorely needed at just this time. Beautiful! Well done! Ann Vincent Vila

    1. Thank you, Sean. This is a bit of a departure from my usual fare. And your guidance played a part in its creation. You and I had a conversation some time ago about allowing your inner thoughts to become source material for blog pieces. This poem is a visceral response to seeing yet another in a long line of willfully blind comments about the state of our planet and our relationship to climate change. My anger demanded to be heard. I wrote this poem in less than five minutes and, honestly, I have no memory of actually doing the writing. But it says everything I demanded of it. Thank you, my friend!

      1. That’s how I use blogging, Tara: as in intellectual/creative workshop. Many of the ideas I rudimentarily explored in early blog posts went on to get full-length dissertations later, and some essays, like “Forget It, Jake, It’s Tinseltown,” in which I poured all my anxiety over the George Floyd murder, are a real-time reaction to some event going on in the world. I’ll identify some thought that’s preoccupying me, and in wanting to learn more about it, I draft a blog post. I’ve got all the inspiration I need right in my own head!
